About Superbunker
What Is It?
Superbunker is a framework for conducting and disseminating cultural research.
Operating as a cross between a think tank and a decentralized federation of neo-alchemical laboratories, Superbunker supports an array of organizations and activities, with project hosting, production support, publication design, media equipment and consulting in our sundry areas of expertise. Built on a common heritage of “subterranean” technologies and strategies, Superbunker works towards turning our investigations into tools, however oblique.
Projects
Our ongoing projects and collaborations include: Swap Meet, a karaoke-based celebration of face-to-face file sharing; the Wasp and Orchid martial arts choreography film seminar; and the Machine Poetics research unit, dedicated to investigating the poetics of electro-mechanical and infomatic systems.
Superbunker is also the publisher of Trepan, a literary arts anthology focusing on experimental and hybrid work, and supports the production of LA-Lit, a series of podcasted interviews with language-based artists in Los Angeles.
Physical instatiation of Superbunker events and activities often take place at Betalevel, a basement redoubt beneath Chinatown in Los Angeles.
